We are hiring for seasonal positions available starting April 1st with starting hourly rates from $14-$16 depending on applicable experience. Advancement opportunities available.

Britton Nursery is a family-run, wholesale perennial nursery growing Colorado hardy perennials for nurseries, garden centers and landscapers throughout the state. Employment is seasonal, fast paced and demanding yet rewarding with constant physical activity, never sitting at a desk, regularly exposed to hot, cold, or wet conditions. On days of extreme or inclement weather, indoor tasks may be assigned or the workday may be canceled. Employees at Britton Nursery enjoy a family atmosphere and a positive work environment. Britton Nursery seeks to find individuals who enjoy working on a team, value the culture and environment of their workplace, and appreciate hard work, and the opportunity to work outdoors all day.

All employees work Monday-Friday 7:00AM - 3:30PM with some fluctuation/shortening of days or cancelations due to weather.

The tasks of team members at Britton Nursery can include:

·       Planting production line work where team members up-pot plants from liners into 1-gallon pots in a fast-paced, teamwork-focused, outdoor setting. Crew members work by hand the “old-fashioned way” to fill pots with soil, remove plants from liners, plant

them into the soil, tag them, transport them to the appropriate greenhouse, and water them in. This by-hand process produces the highest quality perennials and allows crew members to enjoy fine-tuning each cart of plants.

·       Order fulfillment work where team members move through the greenhouses selecting plants to fulfill orders, loading the plants onto carts, and returning to the central loading area where the plants are then loaded onto the nursery delivery trailers by another team member. Orders are pulled with great attention to detail, ensuring quality and consistency are maintained while working with awareness of urgency so that orders can reach the customers in a timely manner.

  Required Skills

  • Cheerful attitude and willingness to do what is asked of the team
  • Ability to work and communicate in a team setting
  • Attention to detail and ability to visually identify plant quality
  • Critical thinking and decision making
  • Ability to remember plant names and greenhouse locations
  • High School graduates preferred

  Physical Requirements:
The physical demands of working at a plant nursery are relatively high. Team members must have the physical stamina to be on their feet performing tasks in the sun for 8 hours a day without losing efficiency or quality. They must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally may be asked to lift up to 50 pounds. Team members must be able to bend, twist, and lift plants off the ground or move plants from a cart onto the ground repeatedly.

NOTE: Britton Nursery team members may be asked to perform other nursery duties as assigned which are not listed on this document.
